'For Carol'
'For Carol'

I created this piece of art in tribute to someone that I was very close to. Carol passed away at the end of 2014 and I knew that I wanted to create something that I felt reflected the way I felt about her and her life. Carol loved pink and i knew that was a good starting place for me. I used a piece of pink textured card and glued a great deal of pink gems over the top. I then framed this and wrote in silver ink on top of the glass.
I wanted to show that from a distance Carol looked full of life and fun, but the closer you got to her, the more you saw how she really felt. In this piece the closer you get to it, the more words you're able to read and hopefully, get a better picture of someone whose life was cut short.
The writing is as follows;

When I think of you,
I think about what could have been.
How you never wanted a lot from life,
Only to be happy.
But your loyalty and choices,
Left you only remembering how happiness felt.
They took you so low,
You couldn't get back up.
I'm sure you see it all,
The mistakes made and the lies they told.
But it's too late now,
And always will be.
